Ski Tourers for Snow Leopards
86 participants added 184.500 meters of ascent at the Dynafit Charity Event
Every commitment starts with the first step. At the Dynafit Charity Event “Add up your ascents for the snow leopard” also the following steps were acknowledged.
The 86 participants enjoyed a lovely sunny day. Beginners and Pros, youngsters and old ones – everyone did their share for the snow leopard. They contributed with every step to the preservation of the endangered species. Their commitment, their will to move on, showed: there are people who care for nature, that commitment starts with a small step and that it can be fun to stand up for something.
Dynafit will convert the 184,500 meters into an amount of 1,845€, being donated to the Snow Leopard Trust. This not-for-profit organization uses the money to prevent the beautiful animals from extinction: by buying land and establishing national parks, by studying the shy and pride animals and by educating the people who live with them.

A helping hand on the spot…. and throughout the world
Winter 2007/2008
Considering that the right equipment is essential for ensuring top performance in the mountains, in 2007 we supplied the gamekeepers of the Snow Leopard Trust (SLT) with 20 DYNAFIT Softshell jackets, which offer outstanding freedom of movement and comfort. Hard wearing and extremely breathable, these jackets offer reliable protection in adverse weather conditions, and are ideal for venturing into the areas where the snow leopard lives.

Winter 2008/2009
During winter 2008 we took our support for the Snow Leopard Trust up a notch, by making not just a donation, but also a top-quality purchase: DYNAFIT bought 500 hand-crafted pendants featuring the snow leopard, using these jewelry items as prizes and gifts and thus drawing attention to the Trust. The proceeds went to the families of local farmers, thus giving a small yet significant boost to their modest income. Thanks to the improvement in their living conditions, the local people are beginning to see the snow leopard in a new light and are less inclined to hunt it for food or to take revenge on the animal for killing their cattle. These and other projects are financed through workshops and other activities organized by the SLT, which works directly in the area to come up with balanced solutions able to encourage peaceful co-existence between the snow leopards and the farmers’ families (e.g. through forms of compensation for damages).

April 2009
Further financial aid was provided by DYNAFIT with the online auction of a pair of exclusive skis, the net proceeds of which (1100 euros) will be put towards financing a long-term study in southern Mongolia: since 2008, a team has been operating directly “on the roof of the world” in order to gather, with the help of video-traps and GPS collars, as much information as possible on the life of the snow leopard. Throughout the last year, the SLT team has thus been able to identify ten specimens and to observe their movements and the area they live in. The data collected will make it possible to protect the animals by adopting properly targeted methods, the efficacy of which can be further assessed on the basis of the data regarding the snow leopard population identified.
