Does your winter begin at the first dump of powder? Are you not sure what a ski narrower than 95 mm at the waist is for? You’re always prepared to put up with a climb if there’s a really good descent at the end - If you answered yes to these questions, you’re a Free Tourer.
Do you love to run on anything but pavement? Are mud, tree roots and rocks your training partners? Can names like Vibram Megagrip, Vibram Mapping Compound or Pomoca Gliding Path be found on the soles of your running shoes? Do steep downhills, ultralong distances and alpine trails raise your heart rate? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, congratulations, you’re a real Alpine Runner.
Do you summit mountains quickly and with ease without being put off by the thought of covering several thousand vertical feet in a day? Do you spend more time above the treeline than you do below? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, Athletic Mountainnering is your sport.
