Ski touring with kids: Here’s how getting started works!
Aside from the right gear, several other factors are also critical to be sure ski touring becomes a free time adventure for the whole family. DYNAFIT managing director Benedikt “Beni” Böhm is the father of three and a passionate ski mountaineer. He reveals his top eight tips and tricks for kids to discover for themselves the joy and ease of ski touring. Scroll through his personal recommendations and get inspired for your first family ski tour.
- Don’t take on too much: Challenging is OK; overextending is not. To start with, 400–500 metres of vertical ascent is more than enough.
- Beautiful weather + powder = good moods: Be flexible with your plans. If you have any doubts, it’s better to wait for a nicer winter day.
- Safe skiing is mandatory: In the beginning, I would recommend taking the first tour close to a groomed slope.
- Variety is king: Children want to discover the world and follow their playful instincts. Short detours to great viewpoints, through the woods or for short technique exercises are a good way to mix things up.
- Yummy goodies will always motivate: Looking forward to a tasty treat or a snack can quickly pep them up.
